Mamma Anderson’s paintings often depict domestic interiors in the eerie atmosphere, classic work from great masters, mysterious lush landscapes of her hometown north of swedenand unknown figures. Her work is always paradoxical and uncomfortable. There are alwaysuneasy intimate hiding behind snug surface. She is a master of telling story.Full of fun, her workhas an attractive narrative methods. Discussing of the space has been a line throughout her work, such as the depiction of the nature space, and the representation of classic work from arthistory, the influence under Nordic culture inheritance, revisiting the Biedermeier style from19thcentury, and the psychological effect upon views by her work. She constructs the space(relationship) between art history, social system, culture background, other art medias andherself. And actually it is an echo with the unprecedented attention to space thinkingnowadays, and the modern`s anxiety about space. My thesis attempts to analysis MammaAndersson`s work from these points.
