The form of address is used to express the relationship between the speaker andthe listener in daily communications, it is the most widely used words, through theform of address we can indicate the speaker and the listener’s identity and their level ofintimate; through the form of address we can also indicate the feeling which thespeaker to the listener, like or hate; through the form of address we can also indicatethe information about the listener’s gender, age and profession, just because the formof address has so many functions, so how to choose and use the form of address hasbecome the point of our daily life, and also become a point of teaching Chinese as asecond language.This paper gives a series of teaching suggestions on the students whose mothertongue is English. Firstly, this paper compares the differences of kinship address form,social address form, personal address form and zero address form between Chinese andEnglish, and found the most basic reason of these differences is culture; secondly, thispaper analysis five factors which effect the choose and use of the form of address;through the above comparison and analysis, this paper gives five teaching methods ofthe form of address in teaching Chinese as a second language and three teachingmethods of the form of address for those whose mother tongue is English. |
