America's The History Of Chinese Language Teaching, The Present Situation, Problems And Countermeasures

The topic of this thesis is “The History, Current Situation, Problems and Solutionsof Chinese Education system in the US”. It consists of an introduction, four chaptersand a conclusion.The introduction first discusses the background of “Fervor in Learning Chinese”,and then summarizes some linguist’s previously research achievements. Explain theInnovation of this Thesis.The first Chapter mainly introduces the basic national conditions and LanguageSituation in the United States, analyzes the relationship between China and the US,indicate Chinese Language plays an important role in American society. With personalfield survey and preciously research I able to explain why learning Chinese languagehave become popular among people in the US.The second chapter summarizes the origin and development of Chinese educationin the US. From the “Chinese Class” in1940s to “Confucius Institute” today, Chineseeducation develops from nothing. Up to today, it has more than one hundred years ofhistory, and still continuing developing.The third chapter is based on the personal field research I did in two schools inNew York City. Anatomize the present situation of Chinese education in the US byresearch its teacher resources, course arrangement and Textbook (teaching materials).Especially introduce the “5C” teaching method which is the latest teachingmethodology in the US.The forth chapter discusses specific strategies for developing Chinese educationsystem in the US. Analysis it’s teacher resources, course arrangements and evaluationcriteria. Seek for the best teaching method in Chinese Education in the US.This thesis has in-depth discussion about Chinese Education systems in the US.Indicates some of the Problems and challenge it still has to confront, and then attempts to come up with solutions. I truly believe that this thesis will benefit the teachingmethod of Chinese education system in the United States as a whole.
