"Qianhou""zuoyou""shangxia" are used very often in common life.Thes three words have various usages and different means. There are alot of similar properties among them, but sometimes they can’t bereplaced by each other. This paper makes study of their semantic byusing the sentences which contain "qianhou""zuoyou""shangxia", andthen analyzes the usage. We wish that our research can make a systemconclusion of "qianhou""zuoyou""shangxia", and can be used in Chineseteaching or other areas.Our thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter defines the object to study and casts light onthe significance of the subject, then reviews on current research.Method of research is also proposed and the source corpus isindicated.The second chapter makes research into the semantic andusage of “qianhou”. Firstly, we discuss the semantic of "qianhou" basedon a lot of corpus. Then we discuss the usage of "X+qianhou" and"qianhou+X". In this procedure we also discuss the changes ofgrammatical features after “X” gets in "X+qianhou".The third chapter makes study of "zuoyou". As same as thesecond chapter, firstly we still discuss the semantic of "zuoyou". On thebasis of the previous step, we analyze the usage of "zuoyou" whilepresent time position and uncertainty.The fourth chapter discusses "shangxia" based on the expressionof "shangxia" in variable environment. We make conclusion of thesemantic of "shangxia", analyze the usage of "shangxia" while expressuncertain number, and also describe the verbs which can be used inthis format.The fifth chapter discusses the similarity and difference among "qianhou""zuoyou""shangxia". The analysis is from several aspectsincluding semantic and usage. At last, we give explanations from acognitive perspective.The sixth chapter is a conclusion, in which the shortcoming of thisthesis and the prospect for possible future research is mentioned.
