AbstractIn the history of the cinema, there are lots of movieadapted from the novel, and there are three reasons that chose thefilm of "The Shawshank Redemption" to analyze.First: the novel RitaHayworth and the Shawshank Redemptions author is the Stephen King,he has dozens of novels that have been adapted into films, ShawshankRedemption is his representative work.Secondly: The ShawshankRedemption is considered the history of one of the most successful films,his popularity is not due to the passage of time dimmed the contrary,more and more familiar. Finally: the theme of the film is the pursuit offreedom, to find hope, life should not lose hope for everyone.In thispaper,after studied The Shawshank Redemption from novel to film andthen found out whats the differences between film and novel or othersart forms.Then researched characters,rhythm and style, music, soundswe will know why The Shawshank Redemption became a success filmafter so many years.In introduction parts we study writer Stephen King,director Frank Darabonts life and creation.And the novel "Rita Hayworthand the Shawshank Redemption" and the movie "The ShawshankRedemption" background information.In the first chapter of paper discussed the difficulties of theadaption of the novel Rita Hayworth and the ShawshankRedemption.This chapter summarize the adaption from the novelanalysis on the feasibility and difficulty of the film.And analysed theadaptation processof Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemptionbasing on the art convertions from novel to film.Although novels andmovies are two different kinds of art form, so in the adaptation processwill encounter some difficulties, but there are many similarities betweenthe them.The reason why this novel adapted successfully is in line withprofound character, the plot is rich, strong dramatic conflicts of these characteristics, so adapted to them much easier.The second chapter shown that the movie of "ShawshankRedemption" narrative reconstruction. In this chapter, the authorstarting from the aspects of the characters,plot, narrative point of view,narrative style and theme of the narrative rhythm,in-depth analysis ofthese aspects of narrative reconstruction from novels to film the process.Base on narrative theory analysed Frank Darabont how to add thecharacters and plot and how to reconstruct film structure to grasp thetone and style of the novel adaptation of transcendence.The third chapter discussed the audio-visual language from the textlanguage,space,screen, sound, music and other elements of the movie"ShawshankRedemption", and analyzed the psychological descriptionof how the characters in the novel. The character description of theevents described by the movie screen, sound displayed. The novel is astory in the minds of the readers of the intention to use text language,the film is the use of audio-visual language to let the audience feel thestory.
