Language is intimately related to culture and second language teaching cannotignore cultural teaching, especially the cultural associations embedded within it. Thispaper discusses the main domains of Chinese vocabulary and its cultural associations,influencing factors and the problems encountered in their teaching. This paper alsopoints out that in the language learning process and instances of interculturalcommunication, these culturally charged words can lead to miscommunications andconflicts. The purpose of foreign language teaching is to cultivate Chinese learnersability to actively communication. Therefore, the reason for emphasizing culturalassociations of vocabulary as part of foreign language teaching is to help reduce andavoid language learners cultural misunderstandings and conflicts. |
