The chapters translated are selected from the novel Story About My Wife, written by Emily Perkins from New Zealand who has won Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize. The translator tries to retain the subtle and sentimental descriptions in the original work. And then the translator sums up in the critical paper six principles with regard to the way the translation is done. They are faithfulness to the style of the text; understanding words and expressions according to the context; using contrast to choose the best words; using logical thinking to revaluate the translation; getting help from persons with similar social experiences and being cautious in using footnotes.
