From A Functional Translation Theory Introduction To The Practical Style

In the translation practice, a translator is required to make many kinds of choices or options while any translation approaches and strategies deal with certain purposes of translation. In terms of this aspect, pragmatic translation is clearer which should fulfill the anticipated functions and purposes of the translation texts. This thesis first explains the essences of Functional Translation Theory and basically illustrates the properties and features of pragmatic translation, based on which it analyzes the inspiration and guidance brought by Functional Translation Theory towards this translation practice. And it also points out that, in order to effectively achieve the translation purpose, a translator should carry out translation strategies towards pragmatic translation based on the text functions.
