More and more lives were saved, at the same time, more and more scholars focused on the research of the function rehabilitation after stroke. Stroke has become the first disability and the third death cause of disease in the world.3/4patients who survived from stroke has different levels of disability. Spasticity is the one reason of the disability. Disruptive symptoms of the post-stroke spasticity include stiffness, clonus, pain on muscle tightness, fingernails that dig into the palm, which cause abnormal posture and movement patterns, etc. And these disruptive symptoms bring body and mental anguish to the patients, hinder the patients from integrating into society, and increase the burden of the family and society. So the early objective evaluation, active prevention and treatment of the spasticity are critical to the patient’s functional rehabilitation.Methods and results:According to searching references recent years, outlined the prevalence of this disorder, the debate on its etiology, the current understanding, curati ve effect evaluation method and clinical management in this article.Conclusion:Post-stroke spasticity is the clinical difficulties, also is the hot issue. Nowadays, the evaluation contents of the assessment methods in clinical trial have gotten more comprehensive, which include spasticity degree, limb movement function, balance ability, activi ties of daily living, pain, etc. There are three kinds of evaluation time points, the initial evaluation, the last evaluation and evaluation between first one and the last one. At present in our country, the assessment methods using in the trials are similarity. We need the assessment, method which is more suitable for treatments’characteri-stic. There are so many treatment methods have been confirmed their effectiveness by the evidence based medicine. Botulinum toxin injection has been the most popular one and an effective treatment. In our country, we’ve already had the record that treating spasticity with needling in Spring and Autumn Warring States Period, so acupuncture therapy is the main treatment method and also is influential one.
