Laolin is one of the common clinical diseases which has the feature oflingering course of treatment and easy-to-recurrence. It and Qilin、Relin、Gaolin、Shilin were altogether called Wulin in the Chinese traditional medicine.From the origin of the name of the disease, the recognition and the course oftreatment to the disease were discussed in this thesis.Professor Ma Jin believes that the bladder damp-heat and asthenia of boththe spleen and kidney are the pathogenic basic reason of the Laolin. The lesionof this disease is located in the bladder. At the same time, it has also closerelation with the spleen and kidney. The asthenia of both the spleen and kidney,the accumulation of damp heat and the bladder Qi-dysfunction are mainpathogenesis of this disease. The deficiency in origin and excess insuperficiality and the mixture of deficiency and excess are the two featuresof this disease. The different methods should be used according to differentsituations in the Chinese tradition medicine. In the acute stage of the disease,Clearing heat and removing dampness are the main treatment method. In the chronicremission stage, the therapeutic principles such as replenishing qi, warmingyang, nourishing yin were followed. In this stage, although zheng-xu are themain treatment to this disease, but easily leaded to shi from xu and occurredthe xu-shi-mixture symptom. So the method eliminating pathogenic factors whichdon’t hurt body should be used as therapy supplement. Professor Ma Jin focuson the ability of invigorating the kidney and spleen in the election of drugs.He believed that the fu zheng should be the priority in the treatment to laolin. Follow the theory of the kidney as the congenital foundation, and the spleenas the acquired foundation, tonifying qi is the key of complete cure to lao lin.
