Objects To explore the characteristics of cognitive function in patient with depression with Neurophysiology and Neural Electrophysiology, and the relationship between the two.Method208cases of patients who were diagnosed by DSM-IV with first onset of depression as a case group was collected.80cases matched with patients in these aspects--age, gender, years of schooling-were selected as control group.HAMD-17(Hamilton Rating Scales of Depression),RBANS (Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status) Stroop Color Tset,WCST (Wisonsin card sorting test) and P300were used to evaluate depressive symptoms, cognitive. To explore the characteristics of cognitive function in patients with depression and the relationship between the two.though Neural physiology and Neural ElectrophysiologyResults1Psychological, neural electrophysiological features in first-episode depressioncompared with control group, The patients’scores of the RBANS test in all item were significantly poorer than those in healthy controls, scores of the scales were significant difference between two group. In Stroop Color-word Test, the time required for completing the words, color, double-word, two-color in depression patients were longer than the control group, apart from color interference and meaning interference. There were significant differences in all items but Sorting numbers, The right numbers and the errors of WCST between first-episode group and control group, compared with control group, scores of the scales were significant difference between two group, except N2amplitude and P3b latency.2The relevance between Neural electrophysiological P300and Psychological indicatorsThe total score of RBANS was negatively correlated with P3a、P3bamplitude. The time required for completing the words, color, double-word was negatively correlated with N2latency,but positively correlated withP3a、P3b amplitude.3The relevance between indicators of cognitive function in episode depression and clinical symptomsIn the RBANS test immediate memory was negatively correlated with the total score of HAMD, cognitive disturbance, delay memory was negatively correlated with cognitive disturbance. In Stroop Color-word Test, the time required for completing the double-word,two-color in depression patients was positively correlated with the total score of HAMD and sleep disturbance.Sorting numbers of WCST was negatively correlated with the total score of HAMD, somatization and weight. The right numbers of WCST was negatively correlated with the total score of HAMD, somatization weight and retardation. The errors of WCST were positively correlated with the total score of HAMD, somatization, weight, retardation. The continuing errors of WCST were positively correlated with the total seore of HAMD, somatization, retardation, weight and cognitive disturbance. The uncontinuing errors of WCST was negatively correlated with cognitive disturbance. There was a positive correlation between retardation and N2latency:and negative relation between it andP3a、P3bamplitude.4The relevance between cognitive function indicators in episode depression and demographic dataIn the RBANS test immediate memory, verbal function, attention and delay memory were negatively correlated with age,but positively with education level. In Stroop Color-word Test, the time required for completing the words, color, double-word.two-color,color interference were positively correlated with age,but negatively with education level. Sorting numbers and the right numbers of WCST were negatively correlated with age,but positively with education level. The errors and the continuing errors of WCST were positively correlated with age,but negatively with education level. There was a positive correlation between N2latency and age:and negative relation between it and education level.Conclusion1compared with control group, The patients’scores of the immediate memory delayed memory, notice, verbal function, continuing errors and uncontinuing errors of WCST were significantly poorer than those in healthy controls. It shows that first-episode depression patients suffered from more serious and comprehensive the damage of cognitive function such as memory, attention, executive function. Event-related potentials P300N2, P3a latency, P3a、 P3bamplitude reduced2P3a, P3b amplitude can be used as an indicator of cognitive function assessment, and correlated with Neuropsychological indicators.3The severity of symptoms of depressive patients was correlated with the cognitive dysfunction, but the correlated is not simple parallel relationship.4cognitive function in first episode depression patients was correlated with sex,age education level and marriage.
