Objective:To evaluate the clinical result of using artificial cervical disc replacement in the treatment of single-level cervical disc disease.Methods:Since March2007to May2011,80patients with single-level cervical disc disease who underwent Prodisc-C cervical disc replacement were involved in this study.There were46males and24females,with the average age of (46.8±3.9) years ranging from36to65years.There were27with cervical spondylotic myelopathy,43with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy. The range of motion, neutral alignment, Cobb’s angle at disease segment and VAS score,JOA score and postoperative Odom’s score of each patient at3th month.6th month,12th month and final follow-up were reviewed respectively to evaluate the effect of the operation.Results:70patients were followed up with a mean period of (22.8±1.9) months(rang4to48months).All cases had improvement in symptoms and signs. There showed significant difference with repect to the VAS neckpain score, JOA spine score and Odom’s score between pre-operation and post-operation(P<0.05).The mean improvement rates of ADR were67%. Odom ratings of excellent and good rate was above80%in different postoperative follow-up phase. No difference of ROM was found before and after surgery in different stage(P>0.05).Conclusion:The artificial cervical disc is easy to implant. The results were satisfactory and make adjacent segment mobility getting reserves. It is a kind of effective method to treat single-level cervical disc disease.
