Objective: To study of the expression and its clinical significanceof transforming growth factor-α (TGF-α) in gastric carcinoma and normalgastric mucosa, and analysis of its clinical and pathological featuresof patients with gastric cancer and the correlationship.METHODS: To collect of gastrointestinal surgery from August to2011inAffiliated Hospital of Qinghai University in December30routine gastriccancer surgical operation in gastric cancer tissue and the operationmargin of normal gastric mucosa tissue (from the cancer edge over5cm),to use immunohistochemical detection of TGF-α expression.RESULTS: TGF-α positive expression rate in gastric cancer tissue andnormal gastric mucosa tissue were63.3%and33.3%, in normal gastricmucosa tissue TGF-a positive expression rate was significantly lowerin gastric cancer tissue and the positive rates of TGF-α in normal gastricmucosa were significantly lower than those in gastric carcinoma(χ~2=5.406,P <0.05).TGF-α in high differentiation adenocarcinoma, poorlydifferentiated adenocarcinoma in the positive rates were33.3%and83.3%,poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma positive expressionwas significantly higher than that of high differentiation adenocarcinoma, both had significant difference (P <0.05). TGF-α expression nothingwith age and sex (P>0.05); And related to the degree of histologicaldifferentiation and TNM staging (P <0.05)CONCLUSION: The expression of TGF-α play a important rolesin the carcinogenesis and progression in gastric carcinoma and theycould help to evaluate the prognosis of gastric cancer patients.
