The key of the application of LED in automobile headlamps is to solve the heat dissipation problem. This paper analyzes the existing different cooling technologies, and also the present researches on the heat dissipation of the LED automobile headlamps. Combined with the theory on heat transfer and thermal resistance, we calculate and get the theoretical quantity of heat demand on cooling the LED headlamps, from the results of the theoretical calculation, we designed the heat pipe heat sink, and build the3D model in CATIA. The headlamp is usually worked in rapid driving, the paper puts forward to design a special lamp shell construction, to make sure the reverse relative wind flowing to the heat pipe fin radiator behind the lamp shell, the paper also simulates and analyzes the effect of the design in FLOEFD; when the car drive in low speed or in traffic, the wind flow is insufficient for cooling the heat sink, the paper puts forward the design of temperature feedback control technology, the corresponding hardware circuit and software control process are designed, we get the temperature near the light source from a sensor, compared with the default value in MCU, then the MCU judge and control the synthetic jet device working or not, to realize the temperature feedback control.The paper tests the structure sample lamp by using a thermal imager; get the temperature distribution on each LED light source and fins, etc. And verify the realization of the temperature feedback control system. At last, the paper analyzes the measured data, and verifies the LED headlamps thermal management system be good.
