Along with the continuous development of the national economy, Chinese government has set more strict requirements to protect the nation’s ecological environment. Therefore, China’s coal-fired power plants must be equipped with Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems.This FGD project applied EPC contract mode.According to the documents approved by the relevant state departments, Ningxia Shuidonggou Power Plant FGD Project, constructed in2009, must be designed, constructed, and put into operation along with the power generation units at the same time. Therefore, the progress control of this FGD project became the key for the whole project to be put into operation and gain profits on time.Starting from the basic theory of progress management in project management and based on the characteristics of Ningxia Shuidonggou Power Plant FGD EPC project, this paper discusses and studies the theories, methods and measures in application of progress management in this specific project. Through analysis of the real case that the FGD project and the power generation units being put into operation at the same time, it was elucidated that through elaborate organization, scientific management and effective means of control, the so-called "three simultaneity" progress target of the FGD project can be realized together with the power generation units.This paper is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, research background, research content of this paper and the present situation of the FGD project management both at home and abroad are raised. In the second chapter, the basic theory of the project schedule control is briefly introduced. In the third chapter, combined with the background of the Shuidonggou FGD project, the problems need to be studied and solved in this paper, the organizational structure, the project schedule. In the fourth chapter, according to some progress control problems in the execution process of Shuidonggou FGD project, the specific measures and methods are presented based on the guiding ideology of the project schedule control theory. In the fifth chapter, the main research results of this paper are summarized, and the author’s further prospects and suggestions for FGD projects are proposed.
