Chongqing Region In Guizhou Miao And Tujia Ganlan Residence Decoration

Regional is one of the characters of architecture. That’s the reason of understanding local traditional architecture culture can be called the stepping stone to design local-color works. While the vernacular architecture as a part of traditional Chinese architectural culture, decoration is an important part of traditional building, and also the most attractive and intuitive part. Therefore, the study of a region or a nation traditional decoration has it’s practical and theoretical reference value, especially in the context of building a socialist new countryside, it’s very important and critical to construct vernacular architecture with ethnic characteristics, protect and excavate local Art Deco culture, inherit and develop folk culture and unique tradition of decorative arts.The decorations of Miao and Tujia’s houses in Guizhou and Chongqing region, are provided with interesting cultural connotation and colorful form of expression.In this thesis, Miao and Tujia’s residential buildings will be the main object of study. The author will comparatively analysis the buildings’ natural environment, cultural background, decorative style features and elements and cultural connotation, from the art of design, fine arts, architecture, folklore, culture and other academic perspectives. This article has a large number of expeditions and researches on residential decorations of these two ethnic groups’, using field survey, interviews, access to historical documents and horizontal linkages of Comparative Law as fundamental research methods. Not only to explore the material and cultural factors, more importantly, the article presents comparative study on its basic form, outside decorative elements, interior style, the type of decorative elements, decorative themes of the performance, decorative materials and craftsmen.Through the contrast between Miao and Tujia Ganlan-styled houses decorations, the author will analysis developping trends and application of traditional houses decorations in the modern environmental art and design, and sum up the trends of regional, ethnic, human cultural, personalized. Finally, combined with excellent instances, the paper carries out innovations on traditional houses decorations from four aspects:direct reference, conversion applications, extended use of the artistic conception and creative application.This paper attempts to find ideal inheriting and innovating approaches of Miao and Tujia’s traditional houses decoration, and explore the ways of the modern enironmental art and design to reflect traditional and regional cultural connotations.
