PostgreSQL is an open, flexible, object-relational database, andalso provides PostGIS which is an efficient spatial data engine, so that itbecomes a mainstream technology platform in the field of GIS. Spatialanalysis model building on the open source spatial database platformby using GeoSQL provides a new method and technique for spatialdecision support. The spatial analysis technology solutions based on theopen-source database platform and open source database enginesolves the problem that the existing commercial level of spatial analysissoftware demands high cost and time consumption during the spatialanalysis. This solution provides a viable plan for the project lack of funds. The application of using GeoSQL in spatial analysis enhanced theperformance of GIS in dealing with massive data, at the same time, itwill become the tremendous motive force for GIS spatial analysistechniques.Shanghai public cultural facilities spatial database is created basedon public libraries, museums, cultural centers, cinemas and other publiccultural facilities. GIS spatial query and analysis and the measurementmodel of spatial accessibility and needs index, like median center, intensity index and nearest-neighbor analysis, are achieved based onGeoSQL spatial query clauses and models in order to support theanalysis in spatial patterns, spatial distribution of Shanghai publiccultural facilities. This paper further discussed how to manage andanalysis geospatial data in PostgreSQL, and also reflects the flexibility, dynamism in using PostGIS spatial database engine as well as theadvantage of using open source database to analyzing spatial data. This technology platform also helps to strengthen the flexibility of thespatial analysis methods in geographical information system.Quantitative analysis of existing spatial distribution pattern of Shanghai public facilities showed that the public cultural developmentis at a high level, the spatial distribution pattern of the public culturalfacilities are relatively reasonable, and showing a gradual transitionfrom the city center to the edge. On the other hand, spatial distributionpattern shows relative imbalance in some local area. The analysis resultcan provides that Shanghai has achieved the basic goal of the “11thFive-Year Plan” to established the construction of "public culturalservices available in15minutes",and laid a good foundation for thefurther development of Shanghai public cultural undertakings in the“12th Five-Year Plan”. The Shanghai public cultural facilities spatialpattern analysis results based on PostgreSQL platform by using GeoSQLcan support the development of Shanghai public cultural facilities andpublic cultural undertakings.
