With the improvement of people’s living quality, the requirement offurniture became higher, furniture production and processing technologydeveloped rapidly. Harmful substances in the furniture became more complexand the harm to the human body was growing. Wood furniture would releaseharmful gas pollution to harm human health and harmful substances wouldmigrate to the body, they would harm our health when we contact with thefurniture and its attachment. The harmful substances of furniture were moreand more concealed to human body, furniture had become a stealth killer ofhealth in our Daily life with no signal.This paper studied the harmful substances (Formaldehyde, Benzene,TVOC, Azo dye, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Flame retardants,Preservative, Plasticizer, Pesticides and Heavy metal)may exist in the furniture,which would harm to human body and environment. We found that detectionmethods for some harmful substances were not exist by analyzing thedetection methods of harmful substances which may exist in the furniture, andthe detection methods cannot adapt to the development of furniture materials.There was a lack of detection method to detect the variety of harmfulsubstances at the same time.This paper studied the detection methods of benzene and TVOC inartificial board of wood furniture with1m3Climate chamber, and studied therelease rule of benzene and TVOC in artificial board.This paper developed an analytical method to determinate16PAEs inartificial leather and melamine resin surfaced wood-base panel. The methodcompared the extraction of different extraction methods and different solvent.The extracts were analyzed by GC-MS in selective ion monitoring (SIM) modeand quantified.This paper developed a method to determinate50harmful substances (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polybrominated diphenyl ether, phthalateesters plasticizer and organochlorine pesticides) at the same time. Theanalytical method detected PAEs, PBDEs, PAHs and pesticides may exist infurniture with the high sensitivity and quantitative reproducibility triplequadrupole mass spectrometer. The analytical method made a quantitativeanalysis by the monitoring of multi reaction monitor.
