In this paper, based on the pattern recognition and digital image processing theory, we use the machine vision to analyze and research the classification system of socks color, apply the technology of digital image processing to pretreat the sample image, and give the way of gainning the color features of each sample via adopting hue percentage histogram of RGB color space algorithm. On this condition, the Windows-based programming is completed and applied to the "Chemical fiber industry technological upgrading-technical innovation of Tex fibre" project. By doing this, we have achieved good results. To sum up, the main content of this thesis as follows:1. This paper has introduced the characteristics and the process of production and dyeing about nylon, and also given the process of production about sock.Meanwhile, this paper has presented the old method, specially the principle of determinnation the capacity of stocking dyeing;2. Using the technology of digital image processing, we have pretreated the sample image respectively, including eliminating the impacts to the result which come from the uneven illumination and unstable voltage;3. Based on the distribution of the hue percentage histogram, this paper has given the algorithm of determination the capacity of stocking dyeing. The company has got a good effect by using this method;4. According to the idea of object-oriented programming, the research has finished the software used to achieve classification of socks color in VB6.0. This software has realized the functions such as image collection and reading, image pretreatment, feature extraction, classification of stocking color and so on. This software has a friendly interface and simple operation, and it can capture the image of socks and give the level of nylon easily;5. A brief introduction about the hardware environment of the classification system of stockings color.
