The technique of horizontal wells is widely used in oil production because of its significant advantage on reserves control capacity and low cost. The promotion also brings about technical problems such as water plugging. Compared with the vertical wells, dot scope water production easily spreads in the horizontal wellbore because of their body structure parallel to the reservoir and therefore the horizontal wells are easily abandoned. The water plugging technology selection and parameters designment of the horizontal wells have great difficulties because of many factors. The current way is to ignore seepage differences between horizontal wells and vertical wells and directly refer to the experiences of the vertical wells. Based on the Joshi formula, this paper focus on the quantitative evaluation of water plugging process, that is the mechanical method, the general method and the partial method and establishes a mathematical model on penetration depth in different permeability segments and three plugging models. On the basis of the literature investigation, mathematical modeling and analysis, this paper has got the results as follows:(1)The plugging models quantitatively calculate the steady-state productivity after blocking and reflect the seepage resistance changes of each producing fluid segment and the whole well.(2)The mathematical model on penetration depth in different permeability segments reflects the distribution of plugging agent and quantitatively describes the damage degree of low permeability segment in the general process.(3)The single factor analysis and orthogonal analysis of more comprehensive factors of the models divide the parameters levels for three kinds of applicable processes, which provide the guidance for screening the horizontal well water plugging process.(4)This paper program the calculation process of the penetration depth model and plugging models using the C++language, which makes the comparison process more easily.(5)Combined with the specific geological parameters and plugging agent properties, the water shut-off technology parameters of TH10110CH has been designed by using plugging models, which are as mentioned.The mathematical model on penetration depth in different permeability segments and three plugging models can be used as tools to quantitatively contrast the plugging effect and analyze the adaptability of plugging technology,which provide a new way to screen the plugging technologies and have a certain directive significance.
