Polymer microspheres have characteristics of small size, large specific surface area, high diffusion and mobility and good homogeneity and diversity. But colored polymer microspheres have not only the above characteristics but also have a clear color, so it has very broad prospect. It can be applied in the field of paint industry, the field of medical immunology, the field of digital inkjet ink, laser printer toner field, the area of printing and dyeing industrial and so on.In this work, dyed polyacrylate latex particles using C.I.Acid Blue9. First, Polyacrylate latex particles were modified by CTAC and OEMD cationic surfactants. The mechanism of interaction is investigated by means of conductivity, surface tension, an average particle size and Zeta potential. In order to avoid the adverse effects of anionic surfactant in the polyacrylate emulsion, P (St-co-AA) microspheres had been prepared by using soap-free emulsion polymerization. Its surface was modified by the adsorption of the cationic surfactant CTAC and C31660. Finally, the modified P (St-co-AA) microspheres were dyed by the C.I.Reactive Red195. The mechanism of interaction is investigated by means of conductivity.Mixture composed of the concentration of1.6mM of CTAC and the concentration of0.40%PAE emulsion, average particle size decreased from193.2to185.5nm, and the average zeta potential decreased from-24.3mV to12.6mV. However, the mixture composition concentration of0.8g/L the OEMD and the concentration of0.8%PAE emulsion, the average particle size increased from193.2nm to195.4nm, and the average zeta potential decreased from-24.3mV to-21.4mV. The color of the latex particles were prepared by the Acid Blue9dye adsorbed on surface modification of the latex particle microspheres with CTAC.CTAC and C31660cationic surfactants are adsorbed to the surface of P (St-co-AA) microspheres, Then, the surface modification of microspheres were dyed using reactive red195.The results showed that surface modification of P (St-co-AA) microspheres with CTAC. can more easily be dyed.
