In the field of oil exploration, the seismic acquitsiion system has gone through six generations of development and updating. Vast majority of the mainstream system are cabled acquisition. However, the great length and weight of the cable may cause too much inconvenience to the field operators, especially when they are in face of complex geographical environment, such as lakes, canyons etc. They are looking forward to much lighter equipments. As a result, great attention has been put on the research of the cabless seismic acquisition system.This article introduces a cabless seismic acquisition system, which uses the MANET technologies, and discusses the details of the key technologies, especially the802.11wireless LAN network technology, the mobile ad hoc network technology, the system clock synchronization mechanism and the network management.Routing technology is the core of the mobile ad hoc networks technologies, so we study further into it. Based on the research so far, the key mechanism and the algorithm operation procedure of the selected protocols, the Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol and the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol, are analyzed in detail. In order to evaluate the performance of the two routing protocols, we build two types of network models with the Optimized Network Engineering Tools (OPNET). The optimized link state routing protocol turns out to be our first choice.Then we introduce how to build the hardware and software environment for the wireless seismic acquisition system, including the Core control module, which is based on Texas Instruments AM3517microprocessor, the sensor module interface, the wireless transmission module, the clock synchronization scheme realization, the OLSR routing protocol transplantation and the working procedure of the whole system.Finally, the networking performance of OLSR and the data transmission performance of the whole system are tested and analysis based on the outdoor system, which is built according to the real application.
