This paper describes 《A dream of Red Mansions》 etiquette intolaws system, daily life etiquette including the daily behavior standardsand the way of treat people, and analyses the emotional quality behindthese etiquette superficially on the basis of the classification. So do thisclassification, this paper mainly in view of the content of the ancient“three rites”, in which 《Zhou Li》is mainly refers to the governance ofslavery, feudal state laws and regulations;《Yi Li》is mainly refers to theetiquette system about the code of conduct and communication ritualformed by the ancient social life;《The book of Rites》is the interpretationof《Yi Li》deep meaning, focus on the person’s moral emotion and spiritquality specifications and requirements. If the “rites of Zhou” and “Yi Li”of “ritual” is mainly embodied in “forms of etiquette”, then the “book ofRites” in the “ceremony” is reflected in the “spirit” of etiquette or“etiquette righteousness”. So, this article revolves around three aspectsincluding the institutions of etiquette, etiquette of daily life and the spiritof etiquette to discuss related etiquette description of 《A dream of RedMansions》. This paper mainly uses the “Literature” and “culture” mutualidentification method, according to etiquette books, with the etiquettedescriptions of《A dream of Red Mansions》text as examples, to analyseall sorts of etiquette phenomenon embodied in the ancient social lifeconcretely. In the book of《A dream of Red Mansions》, etiquette systemmainly embodies etiquette between the monarch and his subjects,mourning rituals and official handover ceremony. Daily life etiquetteembodies life etiquette (including birthday, wedding, funeral etiquette,etc); family etiquette (including the etiquette between husband and wife,father and son, master and servant, the etiquette of female and sacrificialritual, etc); and social contact etiquette (such as teacher-student etiquette).Etiquette is the external behavior of symbols and inner emotional quality,behind the various forms of etiquette, therefore, there is more profoundConfucian advocated the ethical spirit of traditional culture. The ethicalspirit includes “loyalty”,“respect”,“benevolence”,“righteousness”,“filial piety” and “family love”, etc. The etiquette spirit also condensedsome characters in 《A dream of Red Mansions》，form the base of theirpersonality characteristics, the most prominent such as Jia Baoyu’s “humanity” spirit and Xue Baochai’s “neutralization”, etc. So, concreteetiquette description of 《A dream of Red Mansions》is the carrier of thetraditional etiquette culture and the Confucian ethics spirit. Theseetiquette description associated with the ritual culture gives 《A dream ofRed Mansions》an intense sense of history and culture.Etiquette description of 《A dream of Red Mansions》 also has theimportant function of literature and art. Xue Baochai is one of the “dreamof Red Mansions” main characters,“place the ritual” is her mainpersonality traits, and the reflection of this personality trait is trough thedescription of her on a variety of manners to follow to achieve.“Love ofbeauty, love for humanity, mourning the death of youth and life” is one ofthe many themes of the “dream of Red Mansions”, in the book of 《Adream of Red Mansions》，Jia Baoyu’s feelings about “love of beauty,love for humanity, mourning the death of youth and life” obviouslyreflected in his memorial ceremony for every girls who lost their lives, sosacrifice etiquette can be seen as an effective way to achieve this ideologypurport. Moreover, the funeral scene description about Qin Keqing andthe lady Dowager in 《A dream of Red Mansions》 reflects Jia Fu before and after the great changes in social status and political and economicsituation, so, the novel through the description of funeral etiquette reflectsthe situation before and after the great changes. Etiquette description is,therefore, the powerful tools for 《A dream of Red Mansions》to shapingcharacters, expressing content and reflecting the novel situation changes.
