| As a vertiable christian, SuXueLin is one of the founders and builders of modern Chinese literature. Therefore Christian culture profoundly and far-reachingly impacted on her literary creation, literature research and conduct,etc. The origin between Su Xuelin and Christian is complicated. Su’s religious growth environment was chaotic before she went to France, so the religious thought is mixed swing; However Su’s convertion to Christian through the rejection, detention, convert, regret to finally confirm. It was the tortuous road and complex cause to convert that led to the influence of Christian culture on Su’s literary creation and the uniqueness of her acceptance. Among Su’s literary works, the mark of Christian culture exist everywhere, for instance the spirit of fraternity of Christian words and images, fully manifesting consciousness or dissemination of pray, and penetration of redeemed concept, has become an ignorable phenomenon. However,due to the deep influence of Chinese traditional culture and the May4th rational thought, in addition her acceptence of Christian culture presented Su’s unique style. In Su’s work, she secularizes images of God or Jesus, then strips mysterious coat of Jesus, leaving sacrifice, fraternity alone, in order to stand much closer to normal life and annotation Christian culture in this way. At the same time, Su’s works not only limit to personal feelings to express, but also rise redeeming people to national salvation, make the love show in the concerning about the fate of nation and the future of the country. The responsibility of national salvation and national love among Su’s works deeply and fully displays writer’s breaking through personal emotion, combinating the spirit of Christian salvation and the consciousness of social suffering. However, it is hard to understand the role of attacker and avenger which Su used to play in literary criticism and reverse Lu incident. Regardless of the objective fair and rational calm which a critic should have, Su Xuelin as a Christian also completely abandoned forgiveness, tolerance and fraternity which the Christian religion claim or ask for when she was in the face of Lu Xun and the literati writers who she doesn’t like. In modern Chinese literature history, the number of writers who absorb the spirit of religion is numerous, but the one like Su who doesn’t convert completely, and have the profound literacy interpretation and secularization, localization, love widely but not tolerant is still rare.Converting to Christianity becomes a important measure that leads to Su’s legend, which should catch scholars’ enough attention and in-depth interest. |
