A Report On The Translation Of Love Without Limits -A Remarkable Story Of True Love Conquering All(Chapter 1-3)

This is a report of translation project of which the source text is Love without Limits —— A Remarkable Story of Ture Love Conquering All. According to the whole context and the style of writing, the title of the book is translated as 爱不设限 in Chinese. There are fifteen chapters in total and I have finished the translation work of chapter one, chapter two, and chapter three. It is a literature text that tells Nick Vujicic’s love story, the author Nick is a Serbian Australian Christian evangelist and motivational speaker. Because of the author’s religious belief, the book is tightly linked with Christian belief. As a literature text, narrative is the main writting technique, which includes a large amount of Christianity culture. For all we know, no matter in expression or in function, literary translation is very different from non-literary translation. The source text I chose is a literary one, different from academic writing. There are tremendous informal phrases in the source version. With a lively and humorous writing style of the author, the text was created in a very easy and fluent way. There are difficulties in translation because of the linguistic and cultural differences between Chinese and English. In line with the unique writing style, the source text is translated based on the theory of functional equivalence so as to present the book accurately.
