On Wang Anyi’s "Shanghai World"

Wang Anyi is a prolific writer. In his thirty years of writing career, she was constantly changing and innovating, showing us different styles of creativity and gaining a lot of achievements. Especially her diligent narration of the city of Shanghai presents us the diversity of customs of the city of Shanghai, therefore he was to become the spokeswoman of Shanghai.On the focus of Wang Anyi’s writing of Shanghai and with his "unique view of history" as the starting point, this paper is on the historical view carefully analyzed typical landscape, daily life modality, characters in her novel of "Song of Everlasting Regret","Fu Ping","Tian Xiang ". This paper is summed up by the changes and cleared by the account of Wang Anyi’s writing of Shanghai, completely showing us the creation of the Wang Anyi’s "Shanghai World".This paper will be discussed in the following three parts of Wang Anyi’s writing of Shanghai.The first part is introduction, mainly to explain the research origin and meaning. Through reading his passage, We systematized and generalized Wang Anyi’s writing of Shanghai, as well as selected the appropriate researching methods.The first chapter will be analyzed on Wang Anyi’s novel"Song of Everlasting Regret "which is an important novel Since the1990s. This chapter will be based on Wang Any’s unique view of history, to discuss that what the typical landscape of old Shanghai was showing in his novel "Song of Everlasting Regret" and what daily life was in old Shanghai,as well as how her hero Qiyao became the spokeswoman of Shanghai. Through analysis of these three levels, We are trying to dig out the old Shanghai style and cultural essence, as well as Wang Anyi’s values of Shanghai recognized by himself.The second chapter will be discussed on her masterpiece "Fu Ping" which is published in2000. This chapter begins from the Huaihai Road, Shanty towns, Meijia Bridge this three underlying immigrants living space, to show the underlying people’s daily life, which can then analyze the image of a typical representative of the three underlying immigration and draw the different characteristics of the three underlying immigration. We will Focus on the hero Fu Ping’s mind shift which from Huaihai Road to Meijia Bridge to grasp the changes in the writing of Wang Anyi’s "Fu Ping" and Wang Anyi’s identity values on Shanghai.The third chapter will be discussed on his latest work "Tian Xiang" which is published in2011. This chapter will start from the space environment "Tianxiang Park", analyzing the people’s daily life which was showed by the reason for building Tianxiang Park and presenting us the charm of women in old Shanghai by the writing of personality characteristics of three generations of women lived in Tianxiang park. Finally we are trying to find Wang Anyi’s major achievement and innovation on the writing of Shanghai from using her novel "Tian Xiang"by the double writing on the geography and history of old Shanghai.This paper ends with a summary of the full paper’s analysis which is to Summarize the transformation and innovation in Wang Anyi’s Shanghai writing from "Song of Everlasting Regret" to "Fu Ping" and then to "Tian Xiang". We also summed up the constant aesthetic value in Wang Anyi’s writing of Shanghai. At this point, Wang Anyi’s writing of Shanghai and her construction of the "Shanghai World "is clear in this paper.
