The Effects Of Creative Self-efficacy And Organizational Support On Group Creativity

Group creativity has become a hot issue in creativity researches. At present,research of creative self-efficacy mainly focuses on the study of the influence ofindividual creative self-efficacy on individual creativity, and the influence of groupcreative self-efficacy on group creativity. But the study of the influence of individualcreative self-efficacy and group creative self-efficacy on group creativity is lack.Group creative self-efficacy is realized by group interaction and collective cognition.As an important organizational environment variable, organizational support is inessence a supportive management measure promoting group innovation. Thedifferent levels of group creative self-efficacy group may perform differently ingroup creativity due to different categories of organizational support from differentsources they have received. Therefore, based on the above considerations, thepresent study aims to investigate the influence of individual creative self-efficacyand group creative self-efficacy on group creativity, and the influence of groupcreative self-efficacy and different categories of organizational support fromdifferent sources on group creativity.Experiments are employed in this study. The experiment one is abetween-subjects design. In experiment one,48groups are chosen to investigate thecharacteristics of group creativity in individual creative self-efficacy and groupcreative self-efficacy. The results of experiment one are that group creativeself-efficacy is a important factor to effect group creativity and group creativeself-efficacy would promote creativity. Based on experiment one, group creativeself-efficacy has been deeply analyzed in experiment two. The experiment two is amixed design. The author chooses48groups to further investigation in thecharacteristics of group creativity in group creative self-efficacy and different categories of organizational support from different sources.Analysis of variance is adopted in the present study to process experiment data.Major conclusions are as follows:1. There is a main effect of group creative self-efficacy in the total level of groupcreativity. The total level of group creativity in the high level of group creativeself-efficacy is better than in the level of group creative self-efficacy. The interactionbetween group creative self-efficacy and individual creative self-efficacy inoriginality and adaptability is significant: In the high level of group creativeself-efficacy group, the difference of originality in individual creative self-efficacy ofthree different levels is not significant; In the low level of group creativeself-efficacy group, originality in individual creative self-efficacy of the high and themixed level is better than in individual creative self-efficacy of the low level. In thehigh level of group creative self-efficacy group, adaptability in individual creativeself-efficacy of the high level is better than in individual creative self-efficacy of thelow level; In the low level of group creative self-efficacy group, the difference ofadaptability in individual creative self-efficacy of three different levels is notsignificant.2. There are no main effects of the categories of organizational support andorganizational support from different sources in the total level of group creativityand four dimensions of group creativity. The interaction between group creativeself-efficacy and different categories of organizational support in originality issignificant: In the high level of group creative self-efficacy group, originality ininstrumental support is better than in psychological support; In the low level ofgroup creative self-efficacy group, originality in psychological support is better thanin instrumental support.3. The interaction between organizational support from different sources anddifferent categories of organizational support in originality and the total level ofcreativity is significant: originality in psychological support from the leader is betterthan from the collaborator; the difference of originality in instrumental support fromdifferent sources is not significant.
