With the continuous renewal of3G mobile communication technology, wireless broadbandtechnology, broadband network technology, etc, mankind has come into the era of web2.0. Therapid development of network transmission technology has led us into the era of“micro-cultures” in which a piece of information squeezes into our daily life in a variety offorms such as weibo, hint fiction, Micro public good, Micro-films and so on. Micro-film is a newtype of film and television art form to adapt to the new media and new way of people’s life,under the push of various forces such as weibo, social network sites and video website, in thecloak of fashion, the micro-film goes quickly into the public’s vision and gets wide attention atthe very beginning of its birth. As a young film and television art form, the micro-film gets rapiddevelopment and also has the reality problems such as the blowout of the concept, unclearness ofartistic attributes, uncertainty of artistic evaluation standard and so on at the same time.Therefore, there is a certain practical significance and value to analyze and research the microfilms’ aesthetic characteristics and values.This article mainly addresses the aesthetic characteristics of micro-films, takes theaesthetics, psychology of literature and art, linguistics of film and television, audiencepsychology, communication studies and other theories as the instruction, gives a detailedanalysis and interpretation of a large number of micro-films emerging in recent years, to exploreand sum up the aesthetic characteristics and values of the micro films. The full text consists ofsix chapters, mainly including the following aspects:First of all, the author generalizes the development of micro-films, and sums up itsdevelopment as three stages: germination, flourish, and mature, then combined with the scholars’related researches, to sum up the definition, classification and the reason of its rising of themicro-films, and point out that the micro-film is dedicated to production and broadcast onnetworks and new media platforms with characteristics of "mini","commercial","artistry" and"creative". It is the new narrative dynamic audio-visual works of art suitable for appreciation in a short time or in moving state. According to its creation demands, it can be divided into “artmicro-films”,“commercial micro-films” and "commercial art micro-films".Secondly, on the base of watching and analysis of a large number of typical micro-films, theauthor discusses the artistic characteristics of the micro-film from four aspects: on selecting ofstories, micro-films tend to purse the popularization of the story; on narrative strategy,micro-films reflect post-modern characteristics; on the creation principle, micro-films adhere tothe realism creation principle; on the audio-visual language, micro-films also show smaller fieldof view and prominent feature, etc.Thirdly, this article analyzes and summaries the characteristics of the micro-films’ aestheticaccept subject, aesthetic acceptable status, and aesthetic acceptable effect from the perspective ofaesthetic acceptance. And points out that the micro-films’ aesthetic subject appears thecharacteristics of active, younger and diverse demands; changes in communication platform andwatching environment provides the individual aesthetic space and free relaxed aestheticmentality for the appreciation of micro-films; aesthetic experience in aesthetic activities ofmicro-films presents "personalization" and "Epiphany", etc.Fourthly, the author summaries and prospects the values of the micro-films from artaesthetic, commercial property, social culture, and many other dimensions, and points out that inthe contemporary of new media culture products’ increasing competition, digging micro films’art, business, culture and other aspects’ multiple value, is important for leading the micro-filmsto a road of healthy and sustainable development.Finally, the author summarizes some problems in the current process of micro-films fromthe perspective of reality, such as the tendency of content homogeneity, the unity of profit pattern,excessive commercialization, etc., and puts forward some feasible suggestions aimed at thesespecific problems, in order to provide some references for the long-term development of themicro-films.
