Zhang Ailing is unique in Modern Chinese Literature.The reason why we calledher “unique” is not only because of its legendary life experiences differentfrom other contemporary writers, but also because of a series of legendary worksfull of great personality that she left. As for her peculiarity, the educationalcircles have never stop studying her works and herself, even once appeared "ZhangAiling hot" literary phenomenon, but no one has ever conducted a study comparingZhang Ailing’ novels with essays on the basis of reading them in detail.Thearticle selects the perspective of compared study, trying to restore ZhangAiling’s complex thoughts and emotions connotation through the specific textcompare.As we all know, novels and essays are different literary forms, and they aredifferent from each other in the selection of creative materials and the expressionof emotion.But in the same writer’s works, in view of the same temperamentendowment and the same artistic accomplishment, novels and essays often have someconnections. While Zhang Ailing is a writer who is quite complicated in emotion,and she can grasp effectively the connection between the different types of writing,so she pinned two entirely different thoughts and feelings in her novels and essays,one is grim to the end, and the other is practical in the end.In order to demonstratethe connection and distinguish effectively, the text is mainly divided into threeparts.The first part is mainly compared in material.In the material, the novels andessays of Zhang Ailing have the biographical life outlook without exception, whichis the same character of the two types. While in the specific text, it also presentsthe differences of the aesthetic treatment according to the character of the novelsand essays. The connection and differences reflect on the thorough and not completefeature and relationship in the works, the Art fictional and natural authenticity of event, background cultural metaphors features color and the naturalgeographical and so on.The second part is mainly compared in the topic. All the ways of the world endwith love under Zhang Airing’s pen. While in the novels and essays, Zhang Ailing’sinterpretation preached on the theme of “human” perspective and emotionaldifferences. In the interpretation of the theme of love and woman, love and materialhesitation, love and redemption, the novels mainly show the theme of “Lovedisillusionment born of nothing” through diet men and women love entanglements,while the essays, based more on the details of the happy dilute the theme ofpessimism, digging in the corners where the earthly warmth bits and pieces lie.The third part is mainly compared in the expression of text. The one and twochapters discusses the similarities and differences between Zhang Airing’s novelsand essays from content, according to the dialectical relationship between contentand form, content role in the form of control from the stylistic performance becamepossible. First, in the way of account, Zhang Airing’s novels and essays haveadopted an ambiguous narrative attitude, in the attitude of emotion, it’s detached.While the difference is that the novel mainly achieve this alienation effectthrough the narrative time and story time dislocation,and what essays count isthe specific medium. In the description origin, the novel is deeply affected bythe romantic charm of Chinese traditional literature. However, proses have learneda lot from the western essay. In addition, in the technique of description, anticlimax is another noble feature of Zhang Ailing’s novel and prose. The novel mainlythrough reversing the plot of the story to create anti climax effect. However,the prose’s anti climax effect is achieved by the specific statement. In thelanguage and the semantics, Zhang Ailing’s novels are selected carefully, whilein the essays are simple and natural. At last, in the aesthetic style, the novelshows nothing desolate, and the prose show ordinary humor.
