In the past years, with the development of Linguistic science, a lot of people began to focuson metaphors phenomenon, more and more scientists began to research this phenomenon.Now alot of scientists think that metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon but also the way ofhuman’s thinking.The metaphor also helps people to understand surrounding nature.People use alot metaphor in their daily life, a lot of people don’t recognize that they use the languagephenomenon is metaphor.Flower metaphor is one of the common metaphor.The flowers are themost beautiful plants in the world, every flower has it’s own special characteristics.With flowernames are very easy to make metaphors.Every country has its own culture,so flower metaphorsare also different in every country.The purpose of this thesis is to compare flower metaphorsbetween Russian and Chinese languages.It is very important to study flower metaphors forRussian and Chinese students.Flower metaphors reflect human ways of thinking in Russia andChina and also have very rich cultural connotations.In this thesis we use such research method as description and explanation which helps us tostudy flower metaphors phenomena between Russian and Chinese languages. We start analyzethis phenomena from the point of the cognitive linguistics, use comparative analysis to compareRussian and Chinese flower metaphors.This thesis describes the phenomena of the flower metaphor.There are a lot of types of theflower in the world, but the research of this thesis is limited,so we can’t compare every flower’smetaphor, in this thesis we use only common used and with deep meaning Russian and Chineseflower metaphors.We use such selection to compare Russian and Chinese flower metaphor words,this help us to describe the same and the different points between two languages, and try tounderstand the reasons of this similarities and differences.In this thesis we also study thedifferences and similarities of giving flowers in Russia and China.In addition to the preface and epilogue this article contains four parts:The first part includes introduction,the significate of the thesis,the status of the research,thecontent of this thesis and the problems with researching this topic,introduce research method andits innovation.The second part includes the selection of the most representative flower metaphors tocompare them in Russian and Chinese languages. The third part introduce two facts (cultural and geographic) of the difference betweenRussian and Chinese flower metaphors.The last part compares the methods of giving flowers in Russia and China.
