Many academic researches on Yan Geling’s works focus on long novels of thefeminist theory or literary theory, which analyze the issue of feminine consciousnessand their identification under the different cultural background of China and westerncountries. However, studying female figures created by female writers has alreadybecome a kind of thinking set, which corresponds to what Yan Geling says: womenhave more to be written than men." since in a sense, a female has an inborn sense ofweakness in her body and uncertain emotion. However, this article drives in anopposite direction, which reverses the original thinking, studying on the male figurescreated by this female writer. The article will analyze the male figures and thecomplex gender relationship between males and females, and reiterates the writer’sgender perspective and view of humanity through this unique aspect. In addition, itwill interpret the female’s evaluation criteria and the cognitive perspective on theopposite sex, in order to focus on the group of the opposite sex figures in the novel, which provides a new supplement for the existing structure of literary criticism. Theanalysis based on the works of Yan Geling has adopted the same perspective withabove, not only can it reveal the cultural meaning set by the opposite sex image, butit also interprets the distorted relationships under different geographical circumstance, which will ultimately discern the culture and implied meaning concealed in her works.
