Geographically speaking,Nanyang dialect is a branch of Lou-Song district in Henan dialect, which consists of22initials,32finals and four types of tone. There is no expatiatory description of pronunciation variations of Nanyang dialect in the relevant data and materials, and the current studies. In this thesis,we run analytical studies to initials、finals、tone、neutral tone of Nanyang dialect, and we focus on the description as well as analysis of Nanyang dialect comprehensively and systematically.First, this paper explains the system of initials、finals、tone of Nanyang dialect and identifies the tone value:first tone35, second tone42, third tone55and forth tone312. In the process of investigation, this article regards double syllables, polysyllabic words of Nanyang dialect as the research object, and researches pronunciation variations of Nanyang dialect from different parts such of initials、finals、the combination of the syllable、tonal sandhi、neutral tone and r-ending.In our day life dialog, the syllable initials and finals has changed as follows:assimilation, dissimilation, weakening, falls off phenomenon of sound change in the flow of language. It happens for the reasons of the adjustment of the speech organs, requirements for energy saving and speed. After changes of assimilation, dissimilation, weakening and fall off, some initials and finals have formed the special single syllable word in Nanyang dialect, namely pronunciation-united syllables.Pronunciation-united syllables is for the requirement of easy to pronounce, and for the improvement of the efficiencySecondly, this article explains the deep reasons of tonal sandhi of two-words group in Nanyang dialect from the "toneme theory","complexity theory", explained the two word group in nanyang dialect words even read the deep reasons of the modulation. The toneme has the two function of pitch and duration, and the four tones tones of Nanyang dialect can be expressed as: first tone(35)=MHH, second tone (42)=HNL, third tone(55)=HHH, forth tone (312)=MLLBy means of "edge toneme off theory", this paper analyzes the pronunciation variations of Nanyang dialect, such as the modifications of the former tone and the later one keep in intact, the modifications of the former tone, the modifications of the later one and modifications of the both tones. As to the special circumstances of some words which have changed both tones, our study based on "toneme theory" and the results show that the complexity of tones decreases after tone sandhi, from all above analysis, we can assure that when we pronounce, the vocal organs will choose a labour-saved way automaticly. Then, analyses show that neutral tone has an effect on the first character of the tone in Nanyang dialect. There are16groups of tone sandhi of neutral tone in Nanyang dialect according to the variations of the two tones. One is that, the first word is not affected by neutral tone, as first tone, second tone and third tone. The other is that, the former tone affected by neutral tone,as forth tone. This paper points out that in Nanyang dialect, most of the tones before neutral tone don’t change, but some will turn into [53] because of decline of inertia of the pronunciation organs. In the forth tone,it will change to [53] under the influence of element loss and stress structure. At last,we discuss the last category of pronunciation variations in Nanyang dialect:the modification of "r-ending".Firsts of all,we make a classification of the "r-ending" phrases of Nanyang dialect, according to the diversification of er-suffixed rhymes. Secondly, we compare the "r-ending"of Nanyang dialect with common spoken Chinese. In the end, we indicate that there are two formations of pronunciation variation of "r-ending" in Nanyang dialect,:first tone, third tone and forth tone retain the original syllable, while the second tone turn into [53] after sandhi tone, which is neither root modification nor er-suffxed rhymes modification.
