As the product of the combination of computer network and electronic games,online games can simulate and render ideas of people in real life perfectly throughvarious virtual technologies. Online games can meet entertainment needs of people, italso brought series of social problems—especially its negative effects towardsadolescent, which have caused widespread concern of the community. However, moststudies for adolescents’ behavior in online game only focus on the causes of onlinegame addicts, negative effects, and therapeutic intervention, these studies neglectednormal mental experience of adolescent. Study of mental state and changes ofadolescents’ behavior in online games can provide a basis for better understanding thepsychological dynamics of behavior, simultaneously, provide relevantcountermeasures for the prevention of game addiction, and this is a fundamentalsolution to the negative consequences of online games, thereby promoting theformation of health mental for adolescents.Cognitive dissonance is an internal inconsistency which stems from cognitivedifferences of individual’s psychological state. As a widespread psychologicalphenomenon in our daily life, cognitive dissonance theory can explain many of theproblems associated with people’ attitudes and behavior. For adolescents onlinegamers, cognitive dissonance emotions is widespread, this psychological stage has adirect impact on the formation of adolescents correct cognitive and behavior.Therefore, to explore the cognitive dissonance and its processes of adolescents inonline games can not only extend the application field of cognitive dissonance theory,but also can provide solutions of prevention and control for game addiction.This study analyzed the current stage research situation of adolescents’ behaviorin online games, summarized cognitive dissonance theory connotation and researchcontents, as well as the general process of cognitive dissonance of adolescents’behavior in online games, i.e., self-evaluation, disorders sense experience, cognitive dissonance adjustment. On this basis, conducted empirical research by methods ofsurvey and confirmatory research, analyzed the problems of adolescents’ cognitivedissonance psychology in online games, peer attitudes and self-related factors’,combined theoretical analysis and empirical results, proposed solutions of theadolescents’ network game problem on the basis of cognitive dissonance theory.The structure and main content of the paper are as follows:The first chapter introduces the main research questions of the paper, explainsthe research psychological status of adolescents’ behavior in online games andcognitive dissonance theory, and raises research ideas and research implications ofthis paper;The second chapter analyses the adolescents’ cognitive characteristics andnetwork game psychology, on this basis, constructs the process model of psychologyof cognitive dissonance of adolescents’ behavior, analyzes the cognitive dissonance ofadolescent players at theoretical level;The third chapter conducts empirical research on the basis of theoretical analysis,proposes hypothesizes, analyses relevant questionnaires worldwide, designsquestionnaire, explains the process and results of the empirical research and drawconclusions at the end.The fourth chapter combines the analysis and empirical results of thepsychological process of cognitive dissonance of adolescents in online games, basedon the theory of cognitive dissonance, proposes four strategies, which provide areference for cognitive dissonance theory in practice to solve the problem ofadolescents in online games;The fifth chapter summarizes the achievements of this research, reflectsinsufficient points, and determines the study direction of further research.
