| With the rapid development of science and technology and the increasingcommunication between China and other countries, much attention has been paid toEnglish technical news and its translation. News as a media plays an important roleof the world’s cultural communication and information exchange, and is anindispensable part in people’s lives. As a major source for people to learn more abouttechnical products and scientific knowledge, English technical news also plays amost significant role in today’s news media. Therefore, it is necessary to studyEnglish technical news translation from different perspectives. Among the mostperspectives, the links between translation studies and other disciplines are stillworth being noticed and explored. Aesthetics has profound meaning for borrowingideas from the development of translation. Aesthetics has been long connected totranslation in both theory and practice. Most studies are confined to the fields of art,literary and philosophy translation, while the combination of English technical newstranslation and translation aesthetics is a relatively brand-new perspective.Aesthetics is the study of beauty. English technical news has its unique structures andfeatures, such as large amount of terminologies, fixed structure, strict logic and highaccuracy. It seems to assume that aesthetics and English technical news have nothing to do with each other, but the fact is that English technical news translation hasaesthetic value. The author reviews many translation aesthetic theories, collectsplenty of materials, and does some related research about English technical newstranslation in the perspective of translation aesthetics. Besides, this thesis presentsthe contents of English technical news translation, including the definition, thelexical feature, the sentence feature, and the text feature, etc. After the analysis oftranslation aesthetic theory and some English technical news translation discourses,the author discusses the translation aesthetic discourse in terms of English technicalnews discourse for comparison, puts forward the aesthetic criteria and the aestheticvalue of English technical news translation, and tries to find out how the translatingactivity could proceed in the English technical news discourses. This paper uses casestudy, according to the comparison between the English technical news and daily lifeterms. This paper aims to rectify aesthetic prejudice for English technical newstranslation, discuss how to represent beauty in the practice of English technical newstranslation, offer some help to the better appreciation of English technical newstranslation, and provide more valuable opinions in translation efforts. |
