Qualitative Study Of Music Therapy Intervention On The Adaptive Behavior Of Community Adult With Intellectual Disability

The mentally retarded,whose personal intelligence was significantly lower than the average person and showing adaptive behavior disorder, is a special vulnerable groups in society.Unfortunately, few positive studies in our country about intervention on adults with intellectual disabilities.Three "representative"mental retarded adults who came from "Happy Music Club" of Taoranting district were selected as the object of this study.In the form of a combination of groups and individual forms,to intervene in the problems of their social adaptive behavior,interpersonal communication,motor coordination and attention problems.qualitative research was used in this study, by means of observation, investigation and file and Audio-visual material analysis to do an in-depth analysis and diagnosis for the cases problems, trying to find out the cause of the treatment process changes, and the treatment effect on the reasonable explanation.Through the implementation of music therapy activities combined with the analysis and discussion of the observations and interviews, the study concludes the following conclusions:music therapy in the forms of groups and individuals combination applies the methods of Orff music therapy.can not only improve social adaptive behavior of the individual cases in varying degrees.but also effectively for groups to promote their social ability, to develop interpersonal and communication skills development.but maintenance and generalization of the effect require a long-term intervention process, in the meantime, qualitative research is applicable to this study,as the treated individual has strong heterogeneity,and the treatment process is more complex,the use of qualitative research clearly shows the whole treated process with a rich and vivid information to reflect the effect of the entire treatment process.The improvement of social adaptive behavior of adults with intellectual disabilities is a complex and challenging project.In this study, music therapy intervention conducts a preliminary exploration, and achieves some success.Also,analysis that the care and attention given by the family and social has an important role in promoting the improvement of the treatment.Finally,the writer introspected in the role and the research methods, then offer some theoretical reference for the follow-up research.
