Study On Relationship Between Hu Shih And Chiang Kai-shek(1945——1949)

The friendship between Hu Shih and Chiang Kai-shek has been maintained for thirty years(1932——1962). In this paper, the author selects an important transition between1945and1949, which it faces turn again for China. Through interpreting their communication in many major problems, such as’the Present Candidate of Peking University after Anti-Japanese War’,’How to treat Communist Party of China after Anti-Japanese War’,’How to treat Shen Chong Event’,’Hu Shih was invited to join National Government’,’Hu Shih and Chiang Kai-shek’s running for president’,’How to view Li Zongren’s running for vice president’,’How to view the relationship between America and China (1844——1949)’, and so on, we can see that their relationship is very complex.To be specific, it is well controlled, dense and extremely subtle. Through the background of their relationship, we can also see the view of each other between Intellectuals and governors under specific space and time.Except for the introduction and conclusion, the main part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter "The president of Peking University about appointment and was ordered to", goes around "the president of Peking University about appointment and was ordered to", analyzes their motivations and attitudes, and also investigates Shen Chong Event during a period which HuShih is the president of Peking University, so as to explore their relationship behind it. The second chapter "Their ideas about how to treat Communist Party of China between the Chongqing Negotiations", from the background of the international situation and domestic environments, goes around Chongqing Negotiations, elaborates their ideas about how to treat Communist Party of China, so as to interpret their relationship. The third chapter "To join and to decline National Government once again ", combines with their perceptions,such as Fu Sinian,Wang Shijie, He Siyuan, explores Chiang Kai-shek’s motivation about inviting Hushih to serve as a member of National Government,and analyzes its reasons why Hu Shih refuses to join National Government, so as to further interpret their relationship, and review liberal intellectuals how to view their motherland. The fourth chapter"the election of president and vice-president during national assembly ", focuses on the motivation of Chiang Kai-shek to invite Hu Shi as a presidential candidate and reaction of Hu Shih, so as to interpret their relationship during a special period, which it changes greatly about their future.
