Based on Ming Dynastic researchers’interpretation of Mi Fu’s calligraphy, this paper gives a general introduction on Mi Fu’s calligraphy thoughts and his views on his own technical skills in calligraphy. The conclusion is that from the interpretation it reflects Ming Dynastic researchers not only were influenced by some thoughts inherited from people in Song and Yuan Dynastic, but also made their new ideas and contribution, including the push on Huang Bosi’s criticism on Mi Fu, unprecedented attention on Mi Fu’s argument on certain technical nouns, Dong Qichang’s criticism on Su Shi’s interpretation of Mi Fu and etc.Due to the explanation job by those calligraphers in Ming Dynasty, further development of Mi Fu’s thoughts being accepted in the academic field had been made at that time. This kind of explanation both in content and style also is a methodological enlightenment for the future’s research in calligraphy.
