This paper studies the ancient residence window decoration art areas in Wenzhou region, mainly defined in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty and during the period of Republic of china.The author investigated the Wenzhou more than10representative the ancient residence window decoration art, visited the Wenzhou Museum, participated in a series of ancient residence protection lecture, photographed and measured the overall construction and window decoration art of Wenzhou region ancient residence, and read a lot of books about window development history、production process、 construction and decoration art, attempting to explore ancient residential window art in depth.Based on the folk investigation and collection of literature as the basis, this paper longitudinal describes the origin and development of window. Through to the Wenzhou area of the village of ancient residence window case to conduct independent research analysis,horizontal displays window of materials and production technology、construction and decoration art characteristic.Through window decoration art research, try for the protection of Wenzhou region ancient residence、the inheritance and development of regional traditional culture to do some basic research, to the south of Zhejiang ancient residence study provides some reference and draw lessons from. At the same time, make people further understand the traditional culture heritage, to enhance people’s protection consciousness about the traditional architecture and traditional culture, promote the sustainable development of ancient village, contribute to Wenzhou city construction.
