Study On Breathing Signals And Prosody Features For Tibetan Lhasa Dialect News Reading

Breath plays an important role for human existence and verbal communication. At present, speech and physiology study have become one of the important aspects for phonetics research. This paper takes Tibetan Lhasa dialect news as its object, adopting breathing belts, microphone and laryngeal instruments to collect speech signals and chest-belly breathing signals from20passages of news reading materials for male and female speakers respectively. Through MATLAB compiling the speech breathing prosody analysis platform to set, label and extract parameters in order to do data statistics and analysis.The main speech prosody parameters are:silent segment duration, speech segment duration, sentence duration, prosodic phrase duration, prosody word duration and syllable duration. The breathing parameters are:breathing circle duration, inspiration phrase duration, inspiration phrase amplitude and slope, expiration phrase duration, expiration phrase amplitude and slope. The study content can be divided into news reading prosodic features, breathing features and the relationship between two aspects. It has analyzed for1007breathing circles and13940prosodic units for various parameters to gain the following results:(1)For prosodic unit duration, male can be concentrate and stable and owing slightly exquisite more than female. Prosodic phrases and words including syllables’span is larger than standard Chinese, with higher prosodic levels but more unstable in prosody number aspect.(2)According to chest breathing parameters, the breathing can be divided into16types and extracted various parameters. Owing to chest signal circles labeling, the chest breathing can be labeled into1007circles and there are four main trends, and eventually reduced into49kinds of chest-belly breathing relationships.(3)Breathing circle contains more prosody units, turning out higher levels, less data changing and more stable. Because of news and Tibetan own features, breathing circles include more syllable. Different positions of breathing circles, various prosody unit speech and breathing parameters contain various features.
