The dark line was to explore and reveal the "mysterious figure" Nicolajin’s spirit and Journey to the layers of foreshadowing heart calendar. Correspondingly, the theme of the novel is also a heavy into two. In the theme of Russia in the eighteen sixties nihilism and "incestuous" Western Europe faction of the liberal and idealistic sharp criticism, the implicit theme is to reveal a were lost to Christian faith, and how to because of his strong personality strength and the desire for freedom is beyond the boundary of endless and ruin.
