Task-based Teaching has developed a lot and demonstrated its advantages among foreign language teaching fields since it was initiated in1980s. At the end of20th century, Task-based Teaching was introduced to Teaching Chinese to Foreigners field in China and soon it was proved to be an effective method of teaching both in theory and practice aspects. However, researches about how to apply Task-based Teaching into Teaching Chinese in different countries or in different types of classes are limited, which gives the writer more space to make further research on this subject.Chinese Culture class appears in this thesis refers to the knowledge teaching class about Chinese culture. The unique of Chinese culture requires the proper methods when teaching this class. Chinese cultures are complicated and abstract and with various contents, traditional ways of teaching Chinese culture are insufficient, ignoring the interest of the class and the participation of the students, foreign students generally feel that Chinese culture classes are difficult and tedious to learn. Considering this current situation, it is with significance and necessity to research and pursue the appropriate methods to teach Chinese culture classes and increase students’interest of learning.The thesis is based on the writer’s experience of teaching Chinese culture class in Thailand. Applying the popular idea and method of Task-based Teaching, this thesis first investigates the interest of the students in Chinese culture, then, designs the teaching plan and implements into the class. At last, verifies that both of the students’ interest and the teaching effect are increased by applying Task-based Teaching idea and method.The thesis includes6parts:4chapters, Prolegomenon and Conclusion.Prolegomenon introduces the background and significance of the subject as well as research contents and methods.Chapter1generalizes the achievements by predecessors, including literature review of Task-based Teaching, teaching Chinese culture to foreigners and teaching design.Chapter2analyzes the current situation of Chinese culture class in Thai university. Investigates students’interest on Chinese culture by questionnaire and analyzes the investigation results. Chapter3starts the teaching design on Chinese culture class, including overall design and teaching procedure.Chapter4demonstrates teaching case and teaching implementing, accomplishes teaching feedback and teaching analysis.Conclusion concludes each part, summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of applying Task-based Teaching into Chinese culture class.
