Attributive Word is a special part of speech in modern Chinese. It doesn’t have longhistory and was born about1950s and60s. With time passing by, Attributive Word is alsochanging: some of them are gradually disappearing; a lot of new Attributive Words add in thisspecial kind of word. Lv Shuxiang and Rao Changyong (1981) once pointed out that thereproductive rate of Attributive Word ranks after Noun. Attributive Word is at a point ofabrupt change between Noun, Verb and Adjective, so it has the complicated links with thesethree parts of speech. The paper, from the dynamic point of view, distinguishes the relationsbetween Noun, Verb and Adjective by retrieving the corpus of Ancient Chinese and ModernChinese and analyzing the statistic data. The paper contains six chapters except Introduction and Conclusion. Meanwhile, it analyzesthe double parts of speech of Attributive Word by observing the note of Attributive Word inthe Modern Chinese Dictionary (the fifth edition).Chapter Two The Overview of the Relations between Attributive Word and Noun, Verband Adjective. These three chapters are the main part of the paper. Of the436words in the 《试论非谓形容词》,7of them are defined as thewords that aren’t Noun, Verb and Adjective in the Modern Chinese Dictionary (the fifthedition). This chapter comes to the conclusion that all the Attributive Word are nottransforming towards Adverb and Pronoun but the extension of their original use as Adverb orPronoun of these words by observing the use of the seven words in the corpus of AncientChinese and Modern Chinese. The last part is Conclusion.
