As a writer, Ye Guangqin once said:" in addition to a good state of mind, a writershould take time out of the study, taking the eyes and hearts open to a more vast land, anddo something meaningful which could not be discovered in the study. At the same time, itcan also enrich our writers’ life." The writer, Deng Youmei, from Beijing, oncecommented on Ye Guangqin:" his works were "unique", not only having the generalcharacter of Beijing, but her own personality as well!" As an independent school ofcontemporary literature writer, she is famous for her unique writing style and literaryworks of the production of her works. She didn’t stick to single writing style and hertopics have always kept pace with the time, which has always brought unique andmeaningful literature topics to the modern literature. Based on her own experience of theworld, she has been constantly enriching her life experience, at the same time, updatingher knowledge. Especially in recent years, Ye Guangqin, who was more than sixty yearsold, has been writing constantly, and even winning awards; especially in themedium-sized novels, she has already gained certain dimensions. Ye Guangqin’s writingstyle is being more and more mature day by day, but she is not to blur her genderconsciousness intentionally, and not to be locked in a single gender perspective, but toseek a generous, atmospheric writing accomplishment.Although Ye Guangqin’s works involve many aspects, novel is the best-knownamong them. Her novel has won the Lu Xun Literature Award, and was nominated forthe Mao Dun Literature Award. Her novel involves family narrative, Beijing-style,ecological literature, and the theme of war, and proves to enrich and improve continually. We can imagine her literary potential and foresee, that, as the accumulation of life andcultural nourishment, Ye Guangqin will be so well versed in her writing as to be able towrite about any part of it with ease in the near future, forming its works’ irreplaceableaesthetic value. This paper attempts to explore the tragic implication in Ye Guangqin’s novels fromfour aspects: the tragedy type, origin, cultural connotation and meaning. The first partdiscusses the tragedy type from three aspects: the background of national traits, the gender inequality in the context of the Confucian culture and the war history. These formher types of tragedy in several categories, types of analysis works. The second partdiscusses the cultural implication of Ye Guangqin’s novels. Ye Guangqin’s narration offamily has raised attention from the very beginning, because her deep influence of ascholarly family and the cultural deposits had fulfilled the readers’ expectations.Ecological novels is still be growing as a trend of creation recently, and Ye Guangqin’sthought of Taoist school in ecological novels performed most incisive; Ye Guangqin’sworks have concern about the theme of folk culture apart from the grand theme of thenation, which is particularly worthy of our attention. Both the living habits of Manchunobility and the folk culture of Beijing civilians are Ye Guangqin’s interests. Here, wewill introduce briefly from the diet, building, and etiquette, trying to highlight righteouscause from the subtlety. The third part starts from the source analysis of Ye Guangqinnovels’ tragic origin. Due to the writer’s own rich experience, her creation has a broadperspective. Her works involves both the family recollection and the historical senseswhen living in Japan; it also has both the life contemplation from Shaanxi thick soil, andthe influence from studying Taoist culture when she was very young. When we reviewthe female writers of Chinese modern and contemporary literature, who can becomparable to those of male writers of a few bit depth of thought, they are all with acertain educational background, complex life experience, and several radical changes. YeGuangqin’s family culture has undoubtedly provided her creation with material andinspiration. If not has similar family origin, one cannot imitate Ye Guangqin’s kind oftemperament from the inner side. But if she had been living in Beijing commonly, andhadn’t had the chance to view the mountains in nature, she wouldn’t have sensed Taoistthought which was learned when she was a child and the feelings of life experience. Thefourth part will analyze the tragedy significance in Ye Guangqin’s novels, referring to thetragic theory comment of Aristotle, Lipps, Zhu Guangqian etc.
