The combination of oral history and documentary is inevitable. Oral form hadapplied to the documentary, to make up for the deficiency in field records. But the oralhistory documentary in this way has been informed to the public in recent years.Participants oral, story narration, emotional narrative and details narrative, such aspectsof characteristics make oral history documentary obtain the general audience’s attentionand recognition. In related study fields, researchers have already begun to regard oralhistory documentary as a documentary style to research, to pay attention to the selectionof subject matter, the narrative characteristics, its value and controversy.This article mainly includes seven chapters. In the first chapter, the author mainlyarranges the oral history, the literature data and typical works of oral history documentary,and makes simple induction and summary on the basis of it. In the second chapter,introduces the basic research methods and theoretical basis of the article. The first twochapters of the book can be said as a preliminary understanding of the oral historydocumentary research. It also lay the foundation for the following research. In the thirdchapter, author not only defines the scope of the shape of the oral history documentarythrough academic oral history concept, but also maintain the similar oral historydocumentary works. In the fourth chapter, this article mainly introduce the soundsexpress aspects of the oral history documentary. It prominent sound specificity and therole of other sounds in the form of oral history documentary. In the fifth chapter, theauthor introduce the footage showing of oral history documentary. Picture is onecharacteristic that oral history documentary differs from other forms of oral history. Thearticle sets out from different picture types, and analyses concretely. The sixth chapterdiscusses several narrative approaches to oral history documentary. It describes thenarrative characteristics of oral history documentary film and the intrinsic meaning of itshown through some of the narrative theories. The seventh chapter mainly focus on theoral history documentary value, study several aspects, like the way it close to true, itsmodern characteristics and transmission mode and so on. We can form certain and wholeunderstanding to oral history documentary through these studies. It is inevitable that oral history documentary will popular on television and Internet.Some say that one nation pay no attention to the history will lose their future. In fact,people do not forget history. That is fast-paced life and the presenting way of historymake us lack opportunity and interest to close history. Oral history documentary, a newrecord of history make people feel fresh and infinite close to the most vivid history. So,accept and welcome become very naturally.
