The Article begins from1960s, when television films’s embryonic form emerges in America, and then describes the early development of American television film, and defines the boundaries of television film relative to Mini-Series and Series, and add Mini-Series to the subject for study. After that, the article makes a summary of HBO’s establishment, idea and aim. Most length of the article is used for study the yield, teamwork, investment, theme and style of HBO television films, and furthermore, conclude the distinguishing features of HBO television films, finally point out the future tendency of HBO television films. At the end of the Article, television films made by HBO and CCTV-6will be compared with each other from different angels, and the reasons will be discussed briefly.
