| With the fast development of TV and IT, NBA News has had a greater influence on Chinese people and domestic Sports News. Recently, even though more and more research work has been made on Sports English News, little has been done on NBA English News. Even if shared some similarities with Sports English News, the NBA English News has its uniqueness in the usage of words. NBA is one of the four major professional sports leagues in USA; and most of its players are African Americans, who have brought original Hip-hop culture into the game. When translating NBA English News, we should take the above elements into careful consideration.Moreover, in the translation of NBA English news, not only should we discuss its specialized words, but also its original cultural elements and international influence. So certain techniques are required in translating. Nowadays, there are more and more studies on translating NBA English News, most of which are on its language style and words, but little on its cultural feature and way of translating. After a long-time study on this subject and collecting related information, the writer of this thesis has combined its cultural characteristics with translating methods, so as to demonstrate a general way of translating NBA English news in some typical cases. By writing this article, it is hoped that English learners and basketball fans could get a better perspective to appreciate the game and American culture, as well as the original idioms in NBA English News, so as to help the translators to translate better on NBA English News and promote the cross-cultural communication between China and other countries all over the world. |
