In1990s, the neutral clothing has become one of the fashion elements been used of major brands of clothing, the neutral style, such as coats, suits, T-shirts, jeans, etc. has become the everyday clothing of people. Neutral clothing style is a simple, pure, abandon all pretense complicated, personalized style of dress.As a special kind of clothing style, neutral clothing fashion has been more and more intensified in social life, so we need to study the phenomenon of neutral clothing, to study the sociology root caused by the emergence and development of neutral clothing. In this paper, it will started from the association between sociology and clothing, the changed relationship between men and women in social status, so to explore the social basis of neutral clothing; then from the affect of social system, economic development, cultural and ideological trends and fashion designers, etc., come to the conclusion that neutral clothing is a result of the development of social consciousness, the change of sex role, and the new clothing design trends, etc. Neutral clothing style has become one of the main clothing styles which met the personalized aesthetic needs of modern society.After the development of more than a century, neutral clothing styles represent a unique charm; it’s also one of the fashion trends in future. In this paper, through the deep analysis of the formation and development of the neutral clothing styles, through the interpretation of the design style and design features of the neutral clothing, and through the thinking of neutral clothing market prospects for the development, it can provide a theoretical basis for researching direction of neutral clothing style in future.
