The Vocabulary Differences Between The Dialect Of Xihedi In Lingchuan County And Mandarin

As a mine of dialects studying field, Shanxi dialect studying have been70-year history of research. The number large, and covers a wide range, but these is still much room for studying in comparative vocabulary Study.Basis on the theory of Chinese dialectology, Contrastive Linguistics, Sociolinguistics and Modern semantics, this paper shows that the vocabulary differences between Lingchuan County Xihedi dialect and Mandarin vocabulary adopting methods of field work, description and comparative. And the study feature in this paper is combination of traditional linguistics and the modern linguistics, studying dialect vocabulary from the comparative angle.This paper is divided into five parts.Part one is the instruction which describes the geography and dialects of Xihedi village in Lingchuan County, summarizes study situation of this subject, points the meaning, researching methods, material Source and co-operator, and sketches the sound system of Xihedi patois.Part two describes word-formation differences between Xihedi dialect and Mandarin, analyzes that Xihedi dialect and Mandarin vocabulary adopts different form to represent the same things, behaviors, actions and shape. And this research is from three angles:Syllable quantity discrepancy, Morpheme differences and difference of word-formation motivation.Part three makes a discussion on differences between Xihedi dialect and Mandarin vocabulary. Depending on Modern semantics, semantic should be the dominate part of meaning researching. Semantic consists of semantic value and region, and it is an independent structure, but there is aggregation and composition relation between semantics. This paper analyzes differences between meaning of Xihedi dialect and Mandarin vocabulary from aspects of semantic value, region, semantic composition and semantic aggregation. Semantics aggregation relation focus on the difference of synonymous paradigm and antonymous paradigmatic between Xihedi dialect and Mandarin. Semantic composition includes combination of morphemes and semantic combination.Part four explain reasons of Xihedi dialect and Mandarin vocabulary’s deference from pronunciation, grammar, linguistic heritages, geographical environment and customs.Part five is an epilogue that summarizes this project’s conclusion and points its shortcomings.
