University Comprehensive English is also called the Basic English. It is one of the main courses of English majors. This course’s main contents are the English language knowledge and application skills, learning strategy and intercultural communication, and the premise is following the objective rules of language teaching and language acquisition. It aims to help students continue to tamp their language foundation while training the practical application and communication ability. Task-based Teaching is rising from the communicative teaching in1980s and it emphasize "using language to do things". In recent years, the Task-based Teaching idea gradually introduced into China in basic English classroom teaching, and recognized by the applied linguists and foreign language teaching practitioners. Compared with the traditional language teaching approach and the Task-based Comprehensive English Teaching Method will help to improve the classroom teaching mode, strengthen the communication between teachers and students; It Can better exert the students’self cognitive ability and arousing the subjective initiative; It can improve the students’language practical ability and realize the teaching goal of English course. Combined with teaching practice, this paper discusses the basic conditions, principles, strategies and concrete implementation steps of the application of Task-based Comprehensive English teaching.This paper consists of six parts:The introduction part mainly introduces the writing purpose, some related concepts, literature review, basic ideas and methods of the research.The first part elucidate the basic idea of Task-based Teaching, including the introduction of its development, the theoretical basis, and the connotation.The second part, in view of the present situation of comprehensive English teaching, it analyze the problems and causes of traditional comprehensive English teaching, and shows the superiority and realistic significance of task-based comprehensive English teaching.The third part, combining with the teaching practice, it analyze the application of the task-based Comprehensive English teaching, including the application’s basic condition, principles, procedures and strategies.The fourth part, combining with teaching case, it shows the implementation steps of Task-based Teaching of Comprehensive English, and through the analysis of examples summarizes application effects and the existing problems.In conclusion, the research is summarized, and shows summary and prospects for the future research should be in depth direction.
