As nowadays the prosperity of China, China has become one of theforeign students’ favorite options to study abroad. Their cross-culturaladaptation is being concern and affected by their social-cultural adaptation,psychological adaptation, and cultural intelligence.In the study of cross-cultural adaptation, cultural intelligence is givenrising attention. However, there are rarely linked to the research ofacculturation strategies. Previous studies explored that the different levelsof cultural intelligence affect the selection of acculturation strategies. Andis this effect also applicable in cross-cultural adaptation? Besides, culturalintelligence was originally formed by the impact of national culture ororganizational culture. Then, whether the foreign students from differentcultural backgrounds have differences between their cultural intelligence?In addition, will it also influence their cross-cultural adaptation?In order to verify the above assumptions, this study is to find thecross-cultural adaptation mechanism of the foreign students in China by qualitative research, and on the basis of that, further research wishes tounderstand the relationship among cultural intelligence, the acculturationstrategies, and the cross-cultural adaptation through quantitative researchand the secondary track of foreign students. It includes4studies:Study1: To analyze the effects of foreign students’ culturalintelligence on their cross-cultural adaptation;Study2: To analyze the effects of foreign students’ culturalintelligence on their acculturation strategies;Study3: To analyze the effects of foreign students’ cultural intelligence,acculturation strategies, and cross-cultural adaptation;Study4: To analyze the moderating effects of the perception of culturaldistance and social networks of students’ to acculturation strategies andcross-cultural adaptation.And the results show: the foreign students’ cultural backgroundsinfluence their cultural intelligence, the positive effect of culturalintelligence to cross-cultural adaptation is significant, different levels ofcultural intelligence affect the selections of acculturation strategies, themediating effect of acculturation strategies to cultural intelligence andcross-cultural adaptation is significant, and the moderating effect ofperception of cultural distance and the social networks to acculturation strategies and cross-cultural adaptation is significant.
